The challenges involved the implementation of new features that were compatible with previous installed deliverables or provided the means to upgrade from the previous deliverable to the new version; and the capture of knowledge of existing software for optical microscopes and its code base, as the product to be developed was a part of complete suite of software offered by the client.

The challenge was to develop a robust and secure system that maintained comprehensive medical records of students; to develop a system that provided an integrated environment for a school-based health care center, school nurse and physicians; and to develop an easy-to-use software with standardized medical procedures that assisted in providing basic aid to students in the absence of a Doctor.
B.A.T. developed an EMR system that offered unlimited database capacity. The web-based system solved the problem of maintaining the health records of those students that frequently changed their schools or relocated to some other district. The project was in the LIMS domain and included the development of platform-based applications supporting both desktop and web version of the software. The client is a leading provider of precision instrumentation, reagents and chemistries, software and services for a wide range of scientific and industrial laboratory applications, including genetic screening, drug discovery and development, environmental monitoring, food and beverage quality, and chemical analysis.
The project needed to address multiple challenges comprising the development of a reusable platform/ framework that could support multiple applications, the support of both desktop and web versions on a common platform, the implementation of a compatibility layer that would support the coexistence of the legacy system with the new applications, a utility for synchronizing legacy database, the integration of various third party components and UI designs and the provision of maximum customization to cater various industries.
B.A.T. followed the agile SDLC methodology for smooth iterative incremental development of product applications and its corresponding releases. The platform, providing common set of domain services, was developed in parallel with the new applications on the .Net technology.
